FSSAI registration and food licence, handled end to end
An FSSAI registration or food licence is the mandatory approval every food business in India needs before it can lawfully make, store, sell or serve food, issued under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Adv. Bhawna Yadav and her team obtain it for you at a flat professional fee of ₹2,500 — we confirm the right category for your business, prepare and submit your complete application, answer any query the food authority raises, and hand you your registration or licence with your 14-digit FSSAI number, usually within 7 to 15 working days.
The fee is fixed and agreed in writing before any work begins. There is no hourly billing, nothing added quietly at the end, and no upselling. Unlike firms that pad the bill, we quote one fee and tell you honestly what your business actually needs.
What an FSSAI registration is
FSSAI stands for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India — the national regulator for food safety. Under the law, no food business can operate without either a registration or a licence from it, and the approval you receive carries a unique 14-digit FSSAI number. That number is your proof that the business is recognised and permitted to handle food. You display it at your premises and, where you package food, on the label, and buyers and delivery platforms increasingly ask to see it before they deal with you.
Which approval you need is decided mainly by the size of your business — its annual turnover — and by what you do with food. A very small operator takes a basic registration; a larger one takes a State licence; the biggest, along with importers and exporters, take a Central licence. Getting the category right at the start matters, because applying under the wrong one causes delay and rework. Confirming the correct category for you is the first thing we do, before a single form is prepared.
The three categories of FSSAI approval
Basic registration is for small food businesses — what the law calls petty food business operators — with an annual turnover up to ₹12 lakh. Small retailers, hawkers, home kitchens, tiny cafes and cottage food makers usually fall here.
State licence is for medium food businesses with an annual turnover between ₹12 lakh and ₹20 crore. Most established restaurants, cloud kitchens, mid-sized manufacturers, and wholesalers or distributors operating within a single state fall in this band.
Central licence is for large businesses with turnover above ₹20 crore, and — regardless of turnover — for importers, exporters, and businesses operating across several states or supplying to central government bodies.
Our flat ₹2,500 covers your basic registration or your State licence. If your business genuinely needs a Central licence, we tell you plainly and scope that work separately, rather than pushing you toward a bigger, costlier category when a simpler one is the right fit.
What our flat ₹2,500 covers
The flat professional fee is deliberately simple, so you know exactly what you are getting:
- A consultation to understand your food business and confirm the correct category — basic registration or a State licence — for your turnover and activity.
- A clear checklist of exactly what to send us, matched to your business, so you are not guessing what counts.
- Your complete application prepared and submitted under the right category, correctly, the first time.
- Any query from the food authority answered on your behalf, up to two rounds, so it does not land in your inbox to puzzle over.
- Your FSSAI registration or licence delivered, carrying your 14-digit FSSAI number.
- A renewal reminder, so your approval never lapses unnoticed.
That is the whole ordinary engagement, covered by one fee. If your situation needs something genuinely outside it, we tell you in advance and quote it in writing. Nothing is ever added after the fact.
What we'll need from you
To keep things moving, we send you one simple checklist matched to your business. For a basic registration this is usually light — proof of identity, a photograph, and the address of where you operate. For a State licence there is a little more, such as details of the premises, the nature of the food you handle, and the constitution of the business if it is a firm or a company. We line the documents up against the category so there is no mismatch, and we tell you plainly if something is missing before it becomes a problem. You send us what you have; we handle the rest.
Who needs an FSSAI licence
The rule is broad: if your business touches food in any commercial way — making it, processing, packing, storing, transporting, distributing or selling it — you need an FSSAI registration or licence. A few situations bring people to us most often.
Restaurants, cafes and caterers
Any place that cooks and serves food to the public needs FSSAI approval, and it is one of the first things a landlord, a delivery aggregator or a payment provider will ask to see. Most sit-down restaurants and cafes take a State licence; a very small tea stall or snack counter may qualify for basic registration. We confirm which applies to you before we file.
Cloud kitchens and delivery-only kitchens
A delivery-only or cloud kitchen has no dining room, but it very much handles food, so the requirement is the same — and the delivery platforms will not activate your listing without a valid FSSAI number. We get cloud kitchens approved promptly so your launch is not held up on a piece of paper.
Home food businesses and home bakers
If you run a food business from your home — a home baker, a pickle or masala maker, a tiffin service, a small cloud kitchen — you still need FSSAI approval, and many home businesses qualify for basic registration. Having it lets you sell openly, list on delivery apps, and take on larger orders with confidence. We make the step simple, so it never feels like a barrier to starting.
Sellers, traders, wholesalers and small manufacturers
Grocery sellers, online food sellers, wholesalers, distributors, transporters and small food manufacturers all fall within the FSSAI net. E-commerce sites and B2B buyers will ask for your FSSAI number before they onboard you. We match you to the correct category and get the number into your hands.
Keeping your licence valid
An FSSAI registration or licence is issued for a fixed term and must be renewed before it expires — letting it lapse can mean operating without valid approval, which is exactly the position no food business wants to be in. We note your renewal date and send you a reminder in good time, and we can handle the renewal itself when it falls due. You also display your 14-digit FSSAI number at your premises and on any packaged food you sell; we tell you clearly where it needs to appear so you are compliant from day one.
What you get with Adv. Bhawna Yadav and her team
You are not handed to a call centre or a rotating desk. You get a named advocate — Adv. Bhawna Yadav, enrolled with the Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh, with her chamber at Arera Hills, Bhopal — and her team, working on your matter directly. That means:
- The right category chosen for you, so your application is not rejected or delayed over a wrong classification.
- Your application drafted and filed correctly, rather than a template left for you to fill in and hope.
- Any query handled for you, so a routine clarification does not stall your approval.
- Your 14-digit FSSAI number delivered, with a note on where to display it.
- Clear communication in English or Hindi at every step, so you always know where things stand.
How working with us goes
The process is designed to be simple, because getting a food business off the ground is enough work without the paperwork adding to it. It starts with a short consultation, over a call or video, where we understand your business — what you make or sell, where, and your rough annual turnover — and confirm the correct FSSAI category for you.
We then send you a single, clear checklist, prepare your complete application from what you provide, and submit it under the right category. If the food authority raises a query, we answer it for you. When your registration or licence is issued, we hand it to you with your 14-digit FSSAI number and tell you where to display it. You deal with a named advocate and her team throughout — what you receive at the end is a valid FSSAI approval in your business's name, not a stack of forms to work through.
We are honest about timing from the first conversation. Most registrations and State licences come through in 7 to 15 working days when documents are in order, and we would rather tell you a true timeline than promise one we cannot keep.
Available across India, and for NRIs and clients abroad
You do not need to be in Bhopal to instruct us. We obtain FSSAI registrations and food licences for food businesses in every Indian state, at the same flat fee, and the whole engagement runs over call or video with documents exchanged securely and digitally. If you are an NRI or based abroad and setting up or running a food business in India — a cafe, a cloud kitchen, a packaged-food brand — we handle the FSSAI side for you remotely, so distance is never the reason your launch waits.
If your food business also needs other registrations to get going, we can help there too — see our work on GST registration and Udyam (MSME) registration. Not sure where to begin? A short consultation is the quickest way to map exactly what your business needs.
Why choose us
Starting a food business is not the place for uncertainty about who is doing the work or what it will cost. With us you get a named advocate and her team, one flat fee of ₹2,500 agreed in writing, and a firm promise of no upselling — we quote one fee and tell you honestly what your business actually needs, rather than nudging you toward a costlier category or inventing extras to grow the bill. We respect your time and our own effort. You are looked after in English or Hindi, kept informed at every step, and left with a valid approval and a renewal reminder so nothing is forgotten.
The legal basis
Food safety in India is governed by the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, which created the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and made a registration or licence compulsory for every food business operator. The detailed rules on who takes a basic registration, a State licence or a Central licence — and the turnover bands that separate them — are set out in the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011. Under this framework no food business may lawfully operate without the appropriate FSSAI approval, and the 14-digit FSSAI number it carries is the public sign that the business is recognised and permitted to handle food. We work squarely within this framework, so your registration or licence is valid and your business is on the right side of the law from the day it is issued.

Frequently asked questions
Who needs an FSSAI registration or food licence?
Any business that handles food commercially in India needs one — making, processing, packing, storing, transporting, distributing or selling it. That covers restaurants, cafes, caterers, cloud kitchens, home food businesses, bakers, food sellers, wholesalers and small manufacturers. If food touches your business, you need an FSSAI registration or licence.
What does the flat ₹2,500 cover, and is anything added later?
The flat professional fee of ₹2,500 is our one fee for the whole engagement — the consultation, confirming your correct category, preparing and submitting your complete application, answering any query from the food authority, and delivering your registration or licence with your 14-digit FSSAI number. It is agreed in writing before we start. We do not bill by the hour and we do not pad the engagement; we quote one fee and tell you honestly what your business actually needs.
Basic registration or State licence — which one do I need?
It is decided mainly by your annual turnover. Basic registration is for very small food businesses with turnover up to ₹12 lakh a year, and a State licence is for medium businesses with turnover between ₹12 lakh and ₹20 crore. Most established restaurants, cloud kitchens and manufacturers take a State licence, while small home kitchens and tiny outlets often qualify for basic registration. We confirm the right one for you before we file so your application is not delayed.
How long does FSSAI registration take?
A basic registration or State licence is typically completed in 7 to 15 working days once your documents are in order. We give you a realistic timeline at the outset and keep you updated, and we would rather tell you a true date than promise a faster one we cannot keep.
Can you get an FSSAI licence for a home-based or cloud kitchen food business?
Yes. Home food businesses — home bakers, pickle and masala makers, tiffin services — and delivery-only or cloud kitchens all need FSSAI approval, and many home businesses qualify for basic registration. Delivery platforms will not activate your listing without a valid FSSAI number, so we get it in your hands quickly so your launch is not held up.
Do you register food businesses across India, and for NRIs running a food business here?
Yes. We obtain FSSAI registrations and food licences for businesses in every Indian state at the same flat fee, entirely over call or video with documents exchanged securely and digitally. If you are an NRI or based abroad and setting up or running a food business in India, we handle the FSSAI side for you remotely, so distance is never the reason your launch waits.
Can the whole process be handled in Hindi?
Yes. We work with you in English or Hindi, whichever you are comfortable in, and we explain every step, every document and every requirement in plain language so you always know exactly what is happening with your registration.
Is an FSSAI licence mandatory, and what happens without it?
Yes. Under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, no food business may operate without a valid FSSAI registration or licence. Running a food business without one leaves you outside the law and unable to list on delivery apps or onboard with serious buyers, who ask for your FSSAI number before they work with you. We make getting compliant simple, so this is one thing you can settle cleanly and move on.
