Claim what you're entitled to as an MSME

Udyam is the government's registration for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises — and it is one of the most undervalued registrations a small business can hold. It is not a licence to operate; it is a key that unlocks real, money-saving benefits, from a legal right to be paid on time to preference in government tenders. Adv. Bhawna Yadav and her team get you registered, correctly classified, the same day, at a flat ₹500.

The fee is fixed and agreed in writing. There is no hourly billing, nothing added later, and no upselling.

Why Udyam registration is worth it

Most owners register for Udyam and forget about it. The ones who benefit are those who understand what it gives them:

The 45-day payment protection

This is the headline benefit. A registered MSME has a statutory right to be paid by its buyers within 45 days, reinforced by Section 43B(h) of the Income Tax Act — which effectively penalises larger buyers who delay paying you, because they cannot claim the expense until they actually pay. For a small business living on its receivables, this is a powerful lever.

Preference in government tenders

Government departments and public-sector buyers are required to source a share of their purchases from MSMEs, and registered enterprises get preference and relaxations in the tender process. If you sell to the government, registration is close to essential.

Cheaper, easier credit

Udyam-registered MSMEs can access collateral-free loans under the credit-guarantee scheme and benefit from interest-subsidy schemes — making working capital both cheaper and easier to obtain.

Smoother procurement onboarding

Registration eases onboarding on the government's e-procurement platform, opening up a large pool of buyers to small enterprises.

Who qualifies, and how classification works

MSME status is decided by two numbers — your investment in plant, machinery or equipment, and your annual turnover. The bands are graduated, from Micro through Small to Medium, with the thresholds rising at each level. Getting the band right matters: it determines which benefits and schemes you can access, so a careless classification can quietly cost you. We check your real figures and register you in the correct band, rather than guessing.

A useful feature of the modern Udyam system is that classification is dynamic — it updates automatically from your income-tax and GST filings each year. That means there is no renewal to remember, but it also means keeping those filings current is what keeps your status accurate.

Classification done right

The single most common Udyam mistake is the wrong band — usually because investment or turnover is mis-stated. It is an easy error with real consequences, because your eligibility for schemes and tender preferences flows from it. We take the few extra minutes to classify you correctly from your actual numbers, so the certificate you hold reflects the benefits you can genuinely claim.

Udyam for foreign-owned businesses

Udyam itself needs Indian Aadhaar and PAN, so a foreign national or foreign company cannot register directly. The usual route is to incorporate an Indian entity — an LLP or a private limited company — which then registers for Udyam as an Indian business. If you are a foreign founder, we handle both steps in sequence; see the India-entry desk.

Who should register

Udyam is open to almost every form of small business — proprietorships, partnership firms, LLPs and companies alike — provided the investment and turnover figures fall within the Medium-enterprise ceiling. In practice that covers the overwhelming majority of small and growing Indian businesses. If you sell goods or services, employ a small team, bid for any government work, or simply want the legal right to be paid on time, you are the kind of business Udyam was designed for. The registration sits naturally alongside a new GST registration or a fresh incorporation, which is why we often handle them together.

What registration does not do

It is worth being clear, because misconceptions cost money. Udyam is not a tax registration and does not replace GST — they serve different purposes and you may need both. It is not a one-time formality to file and forget either: its value is in actively using the benefits, from invoking the 45-day payment rule when a buyer delays, to claiming tender preference and scheme eligibility. Our benefits summary is there precisely so the certificate does not sit unused in a drawer.

Why clients choose us for Udyam registration

It is a small, same-day registration — but a careless one leaves benefits on the table, and the benefits are the whole point. We register you correctly, summarise exactly what you can now claim, and do it for a flat ₹500 with a named advocate and her team, in English or Hindi. There is no upselling, and we will not register you in a band that does not reflect your real figures.

Registered the same way across India

Udyam is a national registration, so we handle it for resident-owned businesses in every Indian state at the same flat ₹500 — whether you trade from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu or anywhere else — with the certificate issued the same day and our benefits summary in English or Hindi.

The legal basis

Udyam registration operates under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, and the notification dated 1 June 2020 that introduced the Udyam system. The 45-day payment protection is reinforced by Section 43B(h) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, read with the MSMED Act.

Frequently asked questions

What does the ₹500 cover?

Assisted, accurate Udyam registration — the right Micro, Small or Medium classification, your details verified, and your e-certificate the same day, plus a benefits checklist so you actually use what registration unlocks. One flat fee, agreed in writing.

What benefits does Udyam unlock?

The big one is the 45-day payment protection: registered MSMEs must be paid by their buyers within 45 days, backed by Section 43B(h) of the Income Tax Act and the MSMED Act. You also get preference in government tenders, access to collateral-free credit-guarantee loans and interest-subsidy schemes, and easier onboarding on the government's procurement platform.

Can a foreign national or foreign company register for Udyam?

Not directly — Udyam needs Indian Aadhaar and PAN. Foreign owners usually incorporate an Indian LLP or company first, and that Indian entity then registers for Udyam. See the India-entry desk.

Do I need to renew it?

There is no fixed renewal. Your classification updates automatically from your tax and GST filings each year, so keeping those current keeps your Udyam status current.
